Description

Regulatory aspects

The regulatory tide in relation to sustainable finance is rapidly rising, with the European Union having introduced significant reforms in order to meet the three core aims of its sustainable finance agenda: (i) encouraging more investment into sustainable activities; (ii) preventing greenwashing; and (iii) making the financial sector more resilient to ESG risks. The new regulatory framework fundamentally embeds ESG into financial services and operational practices. For all participants of the financial sector and their decision-makers, it is crucial to anticipate the impacts that these changes will have on their businesses and their set-up.

Objectives and Programme

This training is designed to give you an insight into the main ESG regulations. It will provide an overview of the three core texts being the Disclosure Regulation, Benchmark Regulation, and the Taxonomy Regulation, and cover CSRD reporting as well as sector-specific requirements (for banks, investment firms, investment fund managers…). A brief overview of future expected developments will also be provided to assist market participants in anticipating change.

Pre-requisites

Although his session will build on the Sustainable Finance (Foundation) course -  it will provide recap on the fundamental points and provide a deeper insight into applicable regulations. The course is therefore appropriate for those without any prior knowledge about sustainable finance regulation.

Target Audience

Asset managers, banks, insurance companies, institutional investors, research providers, corporates and other participants of the financial sector.

Please note that the aim of this course is to provide a wide overview of the regulatory requirements and challenges in the area of sustainable finance. Whereas practical examples will be discussed, the module is not designed to address all issues related to the practical implementation of the regulatory framework for all market players. Operational aspects are covered in the Sustainable Finance - Operational Aspects - Advanced | House of Training module.
